Introduction
Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is a 17th Century Free house. We aim to cater for the needs of all our visitors. The following statement is a summary of our facilities. If you have any specific questions or needs please feel free to call us and we will assist you in any way we can. Pre-Arrival
• Fax service available - charges apply • Bus service from Castleton to Sheffield approximately 50m from entrance ( approximately every 1 - 2 hours ) • Local taxi numbers available at the bar ( advanced bookings usually required ) • We have a website and can be contacted via phone, email or fax ( see below ) • Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• Car park ( level and flat tarmac surface ) for customers only ( 20 cars ) with marked parking bays • 20m from main entrance across main road, not well lit at night • Slight slope on exit of car park • Raised kerb outside pub front door • drop off if required outside main entrance • Assistance with luggage available if required • Dogs allowed in bar area but not in the restaurant or bedrooms. Water provided on request. • The centre of Castleton is a few minutes walk from the Inn.
Main Entrance and Reception
• On arrival there is only one main entrance into building 85cm wide and 3.3m long • Leading to one door to the left into bar and one to the right into restaurant both 73cm wide • The front door is open from 7am until Midnight when it is locked • There is no step into the entrance which can be accessed with a wheelchair but there is a raised kerb at the roadside • No handrails are fitted • Entrance is well lit with a small, thin mat on the floor • Assistance will be given if requested Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
• The bar and restaurant are carpeted throughout • The tables and chairs are moveable if required • Lighting is provided by wall lights, lamps and occasional down lights creating a warm, low lighting effect • Bar snack menus can be provided in large print with prior arrangement • There are ho handrails but assistance will be given if requested • We allow well behaved dogs in our bar area only • Mobile phone reception is generally good Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc
• A passageway with wooden flooring allows access to toilets and accommodation 1.1m wide • A flight of carpeted stairs ( 11 steps, then a 90' right turn to 2 more steps ) leads to a door 85cm wide to first floor bedrooms • A handrail on the left hand side of first 11 steps
Public WCs
• All bedrooms are en suite • Public toilets available • Gents is accessed along a passage 1.1m then through 2 doors 65cm wide • Gents toilet area is tiled with black and white colour scheme • Ladies toilet is carpeted throughout with contrasting wooden decor and red & cream colour scheme • No pull cords, buzzers or handrails in any toilet Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area
• Breakfast is served in our restaurant between 8.30am and 9.30am • There are no steps into the restaurant which has a raised area which is accessed by 2 steps • Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request • Tables are of varying sizes and shapes ( some have legs on each corner others have a central pedestal ) • There are chairs with or without arms and can be moved if required • Background music is played in all public areas • Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement • Please inform us of any special dietary requirement and we will endeavour to meet your needs Laundry

Additional Information
• Mobile phone reception is generally good • We are able to use various exits in the event of evacuation. The alarm bell rings continuously if evacuation is required. If you require assistance for evacuating please inform us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely eg. hearing impairment • We are a non smoking building ( smoking permitted at the front of the building ) • There are no fridges in the rooms but we can refrigerate any medication in our main fridge ( accessible during hours of service ) • Dogs are only welcome in our bar area where water can be provided if required • Iron and ironing board available for guest use • Alarm clock can be supplied if required • Toothbrushes available ( at a small cost ) Address:
